He discussed about the advanced approach used in working with people who have central nervous system that create difficulties in controlling movement. He also discussed about how the individuals with neurological challenges (e.g. cerebral palsy, stroke, head injury), can become as independent as possible as it treats underlying neuromotor deficits as well as posture and movement disorders and improve the functional skill development.

Prof. Roy P from IIT Roorkie, Prof. PC Sharma, Indraprasth University; Prof. MU Chaurya, CCS university; Dr. Ashok Kumar, IGIB new Delhi; Dr. Trithesh Sharma, BBC Jhansi; Prof. Y Vimla, CCS university; Dr. Veena Gupta, NBPGR, New Delhi; Dr. Vinay Sharma, Banasthali Vidyapeeth Rajasthan; Dr. Anju Pal, GB Pant University; Dr. Ashish Ranjan Sharma, Hallym University, south Korea were the invited speakers for the conference.

2 days workshop on osteopathic mobilization of Peripheral Joints was organized by Physiotherapy Department, IAMR. The eminent speaker was Dr. Narkeesh Arumugam who is Senior Clinical Physiotherapist in Punjab University. He discussed about the advanced mobilization techniques and its effects in relieving pain for all extremities injuries and as these conditions represent dysfunctions that responds well to mobilization. He also discussed about its effectiveness in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders including carpal tunnel syndrome, knee osteoarthritis and hip osteoarthritis

The Theme -“CREATING SKILLS” strongly reinforces the significance of the physiotherapist role on rehabilitating the neurologically impaired. This Colloquium aims to bring physiotherapist working in the field of NEURO rehabilitation up-to-date with the knowledge and concepts in the field. We had renewed international as well as national speakers who shared their knowledge and deliberate during the scientific session of this conference.

On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, IAMR invited some of the alumni’s. It was our pleasure to have all the alumni’s under one roof. All the alumni’s shared their experiences and motivated students towards the profession. All the honorable guests were felicitated by Shri Sanjay Bansal, Secretary Head of IAMR. It gives us pleasure to announce that IAMR Physiotherapy department released its First Journal of IAMR Physiotherapy on this occasion. Programme was followed by cultural events by BPTians. Event was very fruitful for students as they got a chance to meet all the eminent physiotherapists together.

Summary : On November 23rd 2012, Biofest-Genetix is being organised by the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology of IAMR College, Ghaziabad, with a leitmotif of promoting research and innovation in various fields of Biosciences and Bioengineering. With diverse range of events, this biofest aims at involving scientists and students. This event was envisaged to provide a unique platform to the participants from various academic institutions to share their thoughts and views to develop possible linkages among them. Our honorable chief guest was Professor, Y. Vimala, Eminent Scientist from CCS University, Meerut. Secretary of IAMR Group of Institutions, Mr. Sanjay Bansal, Dean of Biotechnology department, Prof. Vinay Dwivedi and HOD of Biotechnology department, Dr. Babita Sharma chaired the program. The program was addressed by Mr. Sanjay Bansal followed by inspiring words of Prof. Y. Vimala. Students from various institutes of Ghaziabad, Meerut, Noida and Panchsheel Nagar participated in this Biofest. The programme included the following events:

After the entire events our chief guest Prof. Y.Vimala shared her views with the participants and encouraged them for their leading bright career in the field of biological sciences. At the end of the “Biofest Gentix -12” prizes were distributed to the winners by Prof. Y. Vimala and the ceremony was closed with great success. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Babita Sharma.

2 days International Workshop on “ Proprioception / Neuromuscular control- Evidence Based/ Clinical Reasoning” was organized by Physiotherapy Department, IAMR. The eminent speaker was Helen Millson, M.Phil. Sports Phys, U.K. She is currently working as a consultant at IPRS (U.K). She discussed about Scientific Evidence of Proprioception, PNF and the Neuromuscular System. Students understood the clinical reason strategies for the implementation of Proprioception/ PNF and the neuromuscular system. This was an interactive workshop which allowed students to express their specific needs in their practice.
Topic : Taping Techniques
Speakers : Dr. Hemant Juneja, Head of Department, Amarjyoti College of Physiotherapy
2 days workshop on “Taping techniques” was organized by IAMR. The eminent speaker was Dr. Hemant Juneja, HOD, Amar jyoti college of physiotherapy. He discussed about uses of tape to provide stability, relieve pressure and reduce muscle pain. Taping is currently being used by therapists to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns, and improve posture. Benefits of using the tape are that it is more economical over time than other modalities, it is easy to learn and apply, there are less types of tape, and it may be used over a longer period of time.
